you've got the spirit, don't lose that feeling.

"one of the saddest lines in the world is 'oh, come now - be realistic.' the best parts of this world were not fashioned by those who were realistic. they were fashioned by those who dared to look hard at their wishes and gave them horses to ride."

  1. i'd like to argue richard nelson bolles. what if being realistic is seeing that your wishes have been granted? then... being realistic probably ain't so sad. ha. there.

  2. mel, i am so happy right now. i love reader reactions! haha.

i think the quote is definitely open to interpretation. i took it more as the idea of people using 'realistic' to mean 'practical' or 'logical'. a lot of times, when i have so-called crazy, "hair-brained" ideas, i always get people telling me i need to be more realistic. so i took it in the connotation of following your dreams, going for what you want, and not listening to or being swayed by naysayers.

but again, i love that you left a comment! i feel like i get so few of them, so i'm really happy :)

  3. haha... well i very well know what he meant.. but my comment was to argue the fact that being realistic doesn't actually have to be such a bad thing.

for example: if a girl is wondering whether or not a boy really likes her.. and possibly doubting something that is, in fact, there... then a friend might say, come on, be realistic! he loves you so much! :)
