i couldn't help but wonder.

my dog, carrie bradshaw

boredom has gotten the best of me. i've watched more tv in the past two months than probably in my whole life. that's unemployment for ya! if you know me at all, you know that i love myself a good television show. my friends get annoyed with me because i would much rather watch a string of random shows than sit and watch a movie. i don't know why; maybe my attention span is just better suited for things that happen in 30-to-60-minute intervals? there are shows that i like, and shows that i love, but there are is only one that has truly (i know this is corny, but stay with me) changed my life.

every girl has a favorite episode, or story, or reason why she's carrie, or samantha, or charlotte (and i know, nobody wants to be miranda, but a lot of us are, so we just have to deal with it). my connection with sex and the city goes deep. i love everything about the show; the writing, the cinematography, and yes of course, the outfits. no television show has or will be as close to my heart. i will go so far as to say that no television show will be as successful, as significant, or as influential with girls my age as this one has.

i'm not going to list the ways that sex and the city has affected me as a woman, but i am going to list my favorite quotes and carrie-questions from the show. oh, by the way, does anyone else feel weird calling themselves a woman? it just doesn't sound right to me. it makes me feel like i just got my period for the first time. anyway, moving on. my favorite quotes and questions. feel free to add your own in the comments below!

“when you're young, your whole life is about the pursuit of fun. then, you grow up and learn to be cautious. you could break a bone, or a heart. you look before you leap and sometimes you don't leap at all because there's not always someone there to catch you. and in life, there's no safety net. when did it stop being fun and start being scary?”

"maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed. maybe they just need to run free until they find someone just as wild to run with them."

“but the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. and if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.”

"charlotte: so how are you?
carrie: i'm good. how are you?
charlotte: great.
carrie: i told aidan about the affair and he broke up with me.
charlotte: trey and i never had sex on our honeymoon.
carrie: you win. so should we get more coffee or should we get two guns and kill ourselves?”

"charlotte: imagine, being blind and not being able to see a beautiful day like today. can you think of anything worse?
anthony: stonewashed jeans and a matching jacket."

"why is it that we can see our friends perfectly, but when it comes to ourselves, no matter how hard we look, do we ever see ourselves clearly?"

"what's the harm in believing?"

"why do we let the one thing we don't have affect all the things we do have? why does one, minus a plus one, feel like it adds up to zero?"

"if you're tired of new york you take a nap-a, you don't move to napa."

"some people are settling down, some people are settling and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies."

"we're so over, we need a new word for over."

"carrie: i'd like to think that people have more than one soulmate.
samantha: i agree! i've had hundreds.
carrie: yeah! and you know what, if you miss one, along comes another one. like cabs."

"miranda went out with an overeater and he over-ate her!"

"you're the loves of her life, and a guy's just lucky to come in fourth."

"i've spent $40,000 on shoes and i have no place to live? i will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes."

mood music: hot chip - take it in

Hahaha! I remember laughing about this one at Irvine for DAYS.

You're the only one I know who loves this show more than I do.

    Miss you :)
